Administrative workshop set for Sept. 23

Frederick Wilcox said, “Progress involves risks. You can’t steal second and keep your foot on first.” And you can’t have progress without change. If nothing changes, you’ll stay on first base.

Changes are constantly occurring in the transportation arena, and the focus of this year’s Administrative Workshop is change, with a theme of “Riding the Waves of Change.” Administrative support staff from throughout the state will meet on Sept. 23 at the Nazareth Retreat Center in Boise to learn about the changing world of ITD and how to cope with it.

Plans are being finalized for the 16th annual workshop, with an afternoon reception to be held in the East Annex Conference Room Sept. 22.

Speakers will include Kandy Weaver, former Garden City city council member, with 4HR Guiding Success talking on “Riding the Waves of Change.”

Other highlights include Information Services Manager Mark Richardson on the information technology transition efforts, ITD Director Dave Ekern on transforming transportation: building the next generation for Idaho; and Janet Brown reporting on the travel team’s efforts.

The Administrative Support workshop committee, chaired by Tammie Jauregui, wants to thank the department for its continued support for this valuable event. It is an important opportunity for support staff to learn about changes affecting their jobs, learn about the overall mission and responsibilities of the department and enhance their professional and personal lives.
