DHR initiates random survey
on performance management system

As discussed during a recent all-agency human resources meeting, the Division of Human Resources has started evaluating the effectiveness of its Performance Management system. A team of agency human resources experts and key Department of Human Resources (DHR) staff have been working on this project.

Although there are numerous stories related to the strengths or weaknesses of the current system, there is little data to support either. The team recommended a survey be developed and used as a baseline for decision making.

The personal perspectives of our current system users – all customers, employees, supervisors and managers – are critical to the success of the survey. To gather that data, protect individuals involved and increase the credibility of the information, DHR contracted with a private firm to conduct a survey of 2,000 randomly-sampled classified state employees.

The firm will tabulate results of the survey and make them available to DHR and to leaders in each state agency. Findings will be used to improve the current system to meet Idaho’s needs.

The survey will be distributed during the week of Oct. 4. ITD employees who receive one of the random surveys are asked to complete the form and follow instructions for returning it. Anyone with questions should contact Connie Pratt at 429-5508 or via e-mail at cpratt@dhr.idaho.gov .

DHR offers its thanks and appreciation to those who are randomly selected to participate in the survey.
