New
ITD web site to be unveiled soon
The ITD web site will soon take on a new look, reflecting a new era
in transportation services from the department. The design vastly changes
the look and feel of ITDs web presence, showcasing transportation
successes and safety campaigns.
In addition to illustrating everything that's happening
at ITD, the site is easy to navigate and intuitive for visitors,
said Jeff Stratten, ITD Public Information Officer. Its
also a big leap forward in terms of website technology. This new version
of our Internet site moves ITD closer to our goal of providing easily
accessible information, to even the most novice web user.
Behind the words and images on the website, information
is increasingly data-driven. For ITD employees who manage sections of
the web, that means a greater efficiency and less time spent updating
web pages.
Topics featured on the new home page also reflect a responsiveness
to concerns and ideas gathered from the public during last years
visioning process.
Surveys showed that Idahoan envision a transportation
system that is multimodal. They want choices within the transportation
system and they look to the department to be a 24-7 operation,
Stratten added.
Following an initial testing phase, the new site is scheduled to go
live this month. The Intranet will not be effected.
Some of the features of the new home page include:
-
The banner along the top of the home page will feature
photos of ITD employees representing a cross-section of ITD districts
and divisions. Highlighting the faces of ITD workers from around Idaho
reminds web site visitors that quality transportation is achieved
through individuals who make a difference. Heather Ogden, a District
4 maintenance worker, will appear in the sites debut; thereafter,
photos of other ITD staff will be rotated periodically.
-
At the center of the web page, a success story allows
ITD to brag about its accomplishments and people. Topics will include
the popularity of recreational backcountry airstrips, public transportation
successes in rural Idaho and safety improvements in north-central
Idaho.
-
The center section of the home page features links
to ITDs most-requested information from the web site: DMV Online
Services and Traveler Services, which includes the Idaho Road Report.
-
A new section devoted to public involvement, Get
Involved links visitors to a wealth of information about projects
in design, corridor studies, schedules of public meetings, how decisions
are made, and offers an opportunity to make public comment.
Much of the credit for making this project come
to fruition is a talented team of web professionals, Stratten
said.
Steve Jackson , Joey Mazzarelli, Kiran Kondal, Michael Bogart,
former staff member Peter Davidson, Darla Christiansen and others have
worked tirelessly to make it happen. I appreciate all that they have
done to take our web site to the next level.
More than 10,000 web pages have been re-formatted to fit
the new design. New content pages have been built for Public Transportation,
Public Involvement, Public Information and other divisions.
