The Bottom Line

Word processing service to end

Because of declining requests for word processing support and the recent loss of a word processing specialist at Headquarters, the General Services section will discontinue offering the service, according to Scott Swanson, the department’s records manager.

“If you need support of this kind in the future, please check with your administrative staff or call us, and we will see if a solution can be found,” Swanson said. “If necessary, there are external word processing businesses that work can be outsourced to.”

Copies of existing electronic word processing files will be retained for several years.

Anyone who wants copies of those files now should contact Swanson or Bobbi Lamb. A transcription machine is available.

Entertainment bargains

ITD employees living in or traveling to the Boise area who want to escape the chill of winter have an opportunity to warm up indoors through special entertainment discounts available to state employees.

Discounted tickets are available for the Idaho Steelheads (hockey) game on Jan. 15, for Idaho Stampede (basketball) games on Jan. 28 or 29, and the Ballet Idaho’s Production of Peter Pan on Feb. 12.

For information about the special discounts or to purchase tickets at the reduced rate, go to the Department of Human Resources Web site: http://www.dhr.idaho.gov/Happenings.htm
