Went the extra mile

I called Sharon of your special license department. I had chosen the wrong extension by mistake. She not only assisted me anyway with my need, but went the extra mile. I have worked in the customer service industry for years, starting as Joan Embery's personal assistant for the San Diego Zoo. I worked with many television personalities and have been trained in professional customer service skills. Sharon is a shining example of outstanding customer service and professionalism that reflects well on your whole department. I just want to take the time to say thank you to her!

Thanks for help with video

Mr. David S. Ekern, Director
Idaho Transportation Department

We have been working with ITD to promote seatbelt awareness. Our efforts have occasionally included members of your department. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to two ITD employees: Dave Tuttle and Mark Hall. They have been instrumental in assisting us with high quality video expertise.

We requested assistance in video taping our program called “Seatbelts, A Snap Decision.” The taping effort included an on-site interview with the Chief Operating Officer of Intermountain Gas Company. Dave (Tuttle) and Mark (Hall) did a great job of producing a high quality video for the Intermountain Gas Company endorsement and later recorded our seatbelt demonstration.

During both events they took extra measures to assure the lighting was just so, audio levels were on target and offered pointers on how to relax on camera.

Throughout the process they maintained a keen sense of humor, yet remained focused on producing a terrific product.

They demonstrated outstanding interagency teamwork and professionalism for an effort that was certainly beyond the call of duty. Please accept FHWA’s thanks as well as my personal thanks for allowing ITD personnel to assist in this endeavor.

Retirement will be felt nationally

Jim Ross,

When Dee and I learned of your retirement from the Idaho Transportation Department after more than 35 years of service, we had the same reaction – how nice for Jim, how sad for us. In the many times that our lives have crossed paths, you have always been such a pleasure with whom to work, to visit and to have fun.

So, as you transition into the next stage of your life, we first want to congratulate you on an amazing career that has helped so many people in Idaho. Many of them you may never meet fact-to-face, but you have improved their daily lives through the transportation projects you have implemented.

We also want to salute the excellent manner in which you built and maintained that outstanding career, gaining the respect and friendship of colleagues across the country through your dedication to AASHTO.

Finally, we are both personally hoping that we’ll continue to see you from time to time when we venture out to Idaho or points west.

We wish all the best for you and your family as you take this exciting step into your future.
