Employees honored for generous contributions

Generosity isn’t a rare attribute for ITD employees. But nearly a dozen have gone the extra mile by committing a generous portion of their wages to help others through the annual Idaho State Employees Charitable Giving Campaign.

The Idaho Transportation Board made recognition of the employees one of its first agenda items this week. Board members personally thanked Robert Snyder, Linda Emry, Cheryl Rost and Ron Kerr for contributions that earned them a place in the 1% category. Five other ITD employees also contributed 1 percent of their salaries to the campaign, but were not present for the short ceremony. They were Raelene Viste, Shanah Percy, Stephen Loop, Janet Weaver and Donald Nesbitt

Sharon Bates and Lisa Apple were commended for being Silver Award Contributors (one-half of a percent).

Winston A. Wiggins, chair of the 2004-05 campaign and director of the Idaho Department of Lands, recently congratulated ITD Director Dave Ekern for the department’s participation level.

“On behalf of the Idaho State Employees Charitable Giving Leadership Team, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for their generous contributions…

“Through these contributions and the contributions of other state employees, our campaign raised approximately $275,000 for charities throughout Idaho and beyond.”

1% Contributors received a commemorative mug and a certificate of appreciation; Silver Award Contributors received a certificate.

“I would like to add that my participation as chairman of this year’s United Way Campaign has strengthened my pride in state employees and will be one of my fondest memories,” Wiggins said.
