Board to consider internal audit

Internal Review Manager Carri Rosti will present an annual report on audits to the Idaho Transportation Board when it meets in Boise Friday (March 18). Rosti’s overview will include information about internal and external audits performed in 2004, the work planned for this year and the status of audits or reviews performed on ITD operations.

The transportation board will meet in the auditorium at Headquarters from 8:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Regular business will be interrupted briefly late in the morning as board members and ITD executives honor employees who have reached employment milestones and individuals who retired during the last six months of 2004. The Employee Service Awards presentation will begin at approximately 10 a.m., with board member Gary Blick (District 4) providing special comments.

Also on the board agenda are:

Driver Licensing Issues
The Driver Services Section will summarize some activities related to drivers’ licenses. Precipitated by an inquiry from the board about national legislation proposed for security concerns, the presentation will be expanded to cover other topics, such as fraud issues, sending reminder notices to drivers whose licenses have expired or are about to expire, and the upcoming Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration audit of Idaho’s commercial driver licensing program.

Communities in Motion
Charles Trainor with the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho (COMPASS) will provide an update on Communities in Motion, a joint planning effort involving COMPASS, ITD and a large number of transportation-related organizations in southwestern Idaho. The long-range Communities in Motion plan will address issues on the regional transportation systems, evaluate the needs for future corridors serving the region and address the effects of growth on transportation.

The result of Communities in Motion will be a long-range transportation plan that will determine the needs of the six counties included in the project for year 2030 and beyond; It will estimate the costs of meeting those needs and provide criteria to identify transportation improvements annually. Participating counties are Ada, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, and Payette.
