Twenty-three kindergarten students at Lowell Elementary School in Boise shared the spotlight with Gov. Dirk Kempthorne this week when he signed a new booster seat bill into law.
Principal Paula Bell greeted the governor at the front door (right). Students watch as Gov. Kempthorne uses one of several pens to sign the booster seat law (below).
Participants, including the governor, listen while authorities explain the benefits of properly restraining children in an automobile (bottom left); Josephine O'Connor of ITD's Office of Traffic and Highway Safety and one of the students demonstrate the proper fit of a backless booster seat (bottom right).
