Employees have more choices on direct deposits

ITD employee’s now can have their pay deposited into four separate banks and/or accounts at the same time. This can be a combination of two savings and/or two checking accounts.

Partial Deposits
Certain amounts can be sent to a particular account or accounts as long as there is another account set up to accept all remaining pay.

For example:

  • Account 1-checking $50.00
  • Account 2-savings $300.00
  • Account 3-checking Remainder

If at any time the total dollar amount of a partial deposit is greater than the net pay, all direct deposits will be stopped for that pay period. Partial payments should be no larger than the smallest net pay received in any pay period

Pre-note:
When the direct deposit is processed to establish or change a bank or account code number, the state Controller’s payroll system will put all of the direct deposit information into a "Pre-Note Status." The Pre-Note status will be for one pay period, during which time:

  • The bank will verify the Account Number, but the pay will not be deposited.
  • The employee will receive a warrant (live check) for his/her pay.

“Pre-note” status will occur on all accounts whenever there is a bank or account change on any one account. If there is only a change in amounts for existing accounts, then a “pre-note” will not occur. The direct deposits should post as normal.

Bank returns:
If one of the direct deposit partial amounts is returned by the bank, only that dollar amount is returned to the state Controllers office to be re-issued. Amounts deposited into other accounts will not be affected.

Anyone interested in making changes to his/her current direct deposit set up or employees who have other questions regarding payroll issues should contact Human Resource Services or their respective district business office
