Smith contributes to disaster training

Dear Mr. Ekern,
I’m writing to thank you for the outstanding support you and your ITD staff provided during our emergency transportation exercise, CASCADE FURY III. In particular, I would like to thank you for allowing Bryan Smith to participate in the planning and execution of the exercise. His contribution to the success of the exercise is beyond words. He is a top notch professional who enthusiastically rolled up his sleeves and gave 100 percent to the exercise.

With over 180 exercise participants, this year’s exercise was the largest thus far. We successfully brought together for the first time, city, county, state, and federal emergency management personnel from three states in one exercise, and tested the ability of all organizations to provide emergency during a catastrophic natural disaster scenario.

Comments received from both participants and evaluators lauded the superb lectures and the realism of the exercise play, which leads me and the other exercise planners to believe that this exercise was a resounding success.

Again, I thank you for supporting us and for sending staff to participate in the exercise.
Look to our website http://www.nw.faa.gov/cascadefury for photos and copies of the excellent presentations.
