Merit increases to show on June 17 paychecks

Notices were distributed this week to ITD classified employees who qualify for one-time, short-term merit increases authorized by the Idaho Transportation Board. Those temporary merits will be evident in larger paychecks next week, June 17.

Qualifying classified employees who earn more than $12 per hour will see a 20 percent increase in their hourly rate for one pay period. Those who earn less than $12 per hour will see an hourly rate increase of 30 percent.

Example:

An employee who earns $15 per hour would multiply $15 times 20 percent times 80 hours for an increase of $240 over the bi-weekly gross salary.

An employee who earns $9 per hour would multiply $9 times 30 percent, times 80 hours, which would result in an extra $216 added to the gross salary.

Hourly rates will revert to their present levels on subsequent paychecks.

ITD’s board-authorized short-term merit increases are independent of the one-time payments the Legislature authorized last session. Those one-time payments would take effect next month if the general fund posts a surplus of $124 million or more on June 30.
