A new way to travel in Mountain Home

Mountain Home, best known for its Air Force base and fighter jets has a new, slower form of transportation.

ITD’s Division of Public Transportation joined Mountain Home Air Force Base, the city of Mountain Home and Treasure Valley Transit, Inc. to bring public transportation to the southern Idaho region. Two buses began providing inter city transportation and extensions for commuters to the air force base. Riders also have access to a transfer station where they can secure bus transportation to the Boise area.

“We have long recognized a need to provide transportation options for the city and the base,” said Larry Falkner, administrator of the Division of Public Transportation. “This partnership provides new opportunities for the citizens of Mountain Home, commuters who need access to the base and people who need transportation to the Boise urban area. We hope this is just the beginning.”

During the one-month introductory period, the service is free; the second month riders will be charged one-half price, and full fares will be charged beginning the third month. Adults may ride of 75 cents, youths between 6 and 18 years will pay 50 cents and senior citizens and disabled individuals will pay 25 cents. Riders must have exact change. The cash fare for commuters to the Air Force base is $2 per rider. Monthly passes will be available.
