ITD employees take the department’s role in promoting transportation options very seriously – and personally. During a special alternative transportation promotion last month in the Treasure Valley, ITD recorded a 37 percent increase in the number of employees accessing their work site by means other than a one-person occupied vehicle. That includes public transportation, vanpool and car pool participation and alternative travel such as bicycle and walking. ITD is served by four Commuteride vans from the Treasure Valley; ITD employees drive most of those vans. District 3 has the newest van, arriving daily from Canyon County and serving stops along Chinden Boulevard, including Hewlett Packard. Employees who participated in the May in Motion event by using alternative transportation to their work site are invited to an awards ceremony and barbecue at Capitol Park (West Jefferson and N. 6th Street) in Boise Thursday. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
