Rick Bachmeier, who has spent 16 of his 18-year ITD career in right-of-way appraisal, added new responsibilities last week when he assumed a place on the Real Estate Appraisal Board. Gov. Dirk Kempthorne made the appointment, effective July 1. Bachmeier replaces colleague Doyle Pugmire who recently left the board after serving two four-year terms. The state board is composed of five members who typically meet quarterly. The board is a rule-making body and oversees applications by prospective appraisers. Bachmeier brings to the board a state/public agency perspective. The other board members, who represent geographic regions within Idaho, are primarily from the private sector, or fee-appraisers. Bachmeier is an appraisal review coordinator for ITD. He reviews property appraisals of both ITD staff and outside appraisers. The office also assists highway districts and city and county agencies in reviewing roadway project appraisals. “I appreciate the endorsement of the Idaho Transportation Board,” he said in announcing his appointment. “I will be succeeding Doyle Pugmire who has served the interests of ITD and the appraisal profession in an exemplary manner.”
