Mountain Home residents who turned out for one of the state’s largest parades recently couldn’t miss the presence of the Idaho Transportation Department. ITD was represented by a fluorescent-yellow six-wheel dump truck equipped with magnesium chloride tank and 12-foot plow, and a truck towing a variable message sign that reminded all who watched to “Buckle Up.” The vehicles were part of the annual Air Force Appreciation Day parade, Sept. 10, that attracted 145 entries and an estimated 10,000 spectators. Dave Labar and ITD’s Mountain Home maintenance crew put the two entries together. Chris Huot and Carl Vaughn guided the vehicles down the parade route that was just short of a mile. “I felt proud to be part of such an event,” Huot said. |
