Headquarters employees to sponsor
charitable giving activities

ITD employees at Headquarters in Boise have created several unique ways to participate in this year’s state charitable giving campaign “United We Care 2005.”

A “Change for Charity” began Oct. 11 and will conclude on Halloween. Employees are encouraged to drop their change in collection jars located in the lobby at the security desk, at the Office of Traffic and Highway Safety, at the Public Transportation Building, the third floor of Headquarters outside of Financial Services, Bridge, in Information Services, the Annex in the Highway Maintenance Office, Supply Services and at the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Public Transportation employees combined to sponsor a dinner raffle in which employees can win one of two home-cooked dinners for four, expertly prepared by Ada Finlayson. Raffle tickets are $1 and will be sold until the end of this month.

Tickets are available from: Laurie Knight (Bridge Design), Janie Stillwell or Sandy Nelson (Highway Operations); Judy Rogers (Planning); Ruth Martin (Financial Services); Finlayson or Anita Jausoro (Public Transportation); the security desk; Evey McAdams (Business and Support Management); or Cecilia Arritola (Vehicle Services).

One dinner will be prepared in December and another in January. Winners can specify the date.

Headquarters sections also have been invited to create festive theme baskets filled with fun gifts to be raffled off Thursday and Friday (Oct. 20, 21). Questions should be directed to Tammie Jauregui, ext. 8807. Baskets will be on display and tickets available for purchase Thursday (Oct. 20) in the Auditorium from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday (Oct. 21) in the hall near Human Resources from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets will be $1 each or seven for $5. The drawing for all baskets will be Friday afternoon. Winners will be notiied by e-mail.

A Trick-or-Treat for Charity event is planned on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31. Employees can reinvent themselves through costumes and put their new appearances on display.

Participants are asked to meet at 10 a.m. in the Headquarters Auditorium. People interested in voting for their favorite costumes can pick up their ballots in the Auditorium from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Ballots must be turned in by 11:30 a.m. Winners will be announced at noon in the Auditorium. They will be awarded “fabulous” prizes donated by DOROLCO.

People in costume will be divided into teams and will visit each section at Headquarters, trick,-or-treating for charity. Have your donations ready!

Proceeds from the fundraising activities will be given to the United Way general fund to benefit local charitable organizations.
