Safety Fest participation

ITD Director Dave Ekern

Washington Group International wishes to recognize the attendance of the following ITD employees at the Great Northwest Safety Fest Conference, the first of its kind for this area.

As you are aware, Washington Group sponsored the safety fest in a partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. We are committed to enhancing the community through educational outreach and support. Through this free training opportunity, 167 individuals were certified in the OSHA 10-hour safety course with over 300 participants representing 60 contractors/organizations attending the 24 training sessions.

Washington Group considers it a privilege to serve the region by sharing resources and knowledge, assisting other Idaho organizations in achieving safer work environments throughout the Northwest. This sharing of “best practices” is the basis for the “Safety Fest of the Great Northwest.”

Washington Group appreciates the Idaho Transportation Department’s support and attendance and looks forward to a continued and lasting relationship with the State of Idaho and the Idaho Transportation Department. We are already in the planning process for next year’s safety fest.

Those in attendance were:

  • Cheryl Rost, Safety & Risk Manager, Headquarters
  • Lynn Beckstrom, Safety Coordinator, District 1
  • John Ward, EEO/Safety/Training, District 2
  • Terry Meiners, EEO/Training, District 3
