State employees who want to get an early start on income tax preparation do not have to wait until late January when W-2 forms that report annual earnings and withholdings traditionally are mailed. Electronic W-2 forms will be available on the State Controller’s Office Web site, effective today (Jan. 13), about a week before the scheduled mailing begins. State employees can view and/or print from the Web page. Archives also enable retrieval of W-2 forms from as far back as the 2002 tax year. All state employees will receive a paper (mailed) copy this year, whether or not they choose to view/print their tax form online. Beginning next year, individuals who have online access to their W-2 will not receive a paper copy by mail, according to the Controller’s Office. To view or print a copy of the 2005 Form W-2, log-on to the applications selection menu at https://www.sco.state.id.us/defaultweb.nsf/mainframeset.htm using the user name and password for access to I-TIME or electronic pay stubs. Once logged on, click Online “Form W-2,” and read the “terms of use” agreement. For more information about online Form W-2s, visit the Controller’s Office Web site at http://www.sco.state.id.us Additional questions can be directed to the office via e-mail at DSPhelp@sco.state.id.us .
