Kuisti
heads south to become ADE in District 3
The last couple of times that Dave Kuisti changed jobs
at ITD, it was a matter of boxing up his personal belongings from one
office and moving them down the hall to another. His new promotion involves
a bit more change.
Over the next month or so, Kuisti will switch from District 2 Project
Development Engineer to District 3 Assistant District Engineer –
Operations. At the same time, his wife Lisa and their four children,
ages 14, 10, 7 and 2, will prepare for the move from Lewiston to Boise.
“There
are a lot of interesting things to do in Boise, a lot of good restaurants,”
Kuisti said. “There will be a lot of opportunities for the kids’
education.”
Kuisti has been with ITD since graduating from the University of Idaho
in 1991. After going through the EIT program at Districts 1 and 2 and
Headquarters, he took a position as staff engineer in construction at
District 2. He was promoted to Resident Engineer and, in February 2001,
moved to Project Development Engineer.
“He’s got five years of construction experience and five
years of design experience. He’s well versed in both sides and
he brings perspective from a different district,” said District
3 Engineer Eric Shannon. “He’s really balanced in his background.”
Kuisti will join Scott Gurnsey as District 3’s new team of ADEs,
replacing Damon Allen, the new Headquarters Roadway Design Engineer,
and Elaine Davis, who took a position in the private sector.
“I’m really looking forward to getting down there and getting
started,” Kuisti said. “There are a lot of exciting projects
in District 3. I enjoyed construction when I was in it. It’s always
rewarding to see things built.”
Among Kuisti’s larger construction projects in District 2 were
the Goff, Kamiah, Ahsahka and Orofino bridges.
But the immediate focus remains coordinating the family move from Lewiston
to Boise.
