Health screenings offered at Headquarters

Two health-related screenings are planned for ITD employees next month at Headquarters. A cardiac risk assessment/14-channel blood screening is planned March 7 in the Auditorium.

Provided by the ITD Wellness Program, the screening tests for cholesterol (HDL and LDL), glucose, triglycerides and some minerals and enzymes. It is a “fasting” blood draw so participants must abstain from food and beverage for at least 12 hours before the test.

The cost for employees is $22.50. Participants are asked to take their Blue Cross Insurance card for streamlined reimbursement.

In addition to the cardiac risk assessment, the following additional blood tests also will be available for an extra fee:

  • Prostate PSA screening, $23
  • Complete blood count (white/red blood cells count), $9
  • Blood/lead level in blood, $16
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone, $15
  • Free T-4 (hypo or hyper thyroid), $10
  • Iron, $9, and
  • HSCRP, cardiac health test, $25

Employees may get the cardiac risk assessment without a doctor’s order. However, a physician’s written order is required for any of the additional blood work listed above. Please consult with your physician to determine which or if additional tests are needed.

To schedule an appointment, send an e-mail message to Patty Fish no later than Friday, March 3.

The second of two mammography tests is planned for March 28 at Headquarters.

The hospital will set up a mobile testing unit near the east side of the Annex at the corner near the Print Shop. To schedule an appointment, contact St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center at 381-2055. The regional hospital will process billing for the assessment and no payment is required at the time of service.

The following criteria must be met to qualify for the testing:

  • No known breast problems such as lumps, discharge or pain
  • Older than 40
  • Ability to stand for the entire procedure
  • No previous mammogram within the past year, and
  • Not currently breastfeeding or no lactation within the past six months

Appointments will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a scheduled lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The test center can accommodate about 15 women on March. 28, so make appointments early.

Individuals who are scheduled for the procedure must take their insurance card, wear a blouse with a button-down front and abstain from using perfumes, deodorants and powders. Questions can be directed to St. Luke’s at 381-2055 or to ITD Wellness Committee member Pauline Davis at ext. 8481.
