Partial reimbursement available for
participating in weight-loss programs

Tired of throwing your weight around? Wish you had less of it to throw? The Office of Group Insurance (part of the Idaho Department of Administration) has a way to help you lose what you don’t want to keep.

State employees may participate in a weight management program and be partially reimbursed for costs associated with one of three widely-recognized weight-loss organizations – Weight Watchers (see related story), Jenny Craig or L.A. Weight Loss.

Signup began April 1 and will continue through Wednesday, May 31. It is open to all state of Idaho employees, retirees and dependents who are covered by Blue Cross of Idaho.

Participants who lose at least 10 percent of their initial weight in six months will be reimbursed $100. At the end of one year, participants who have either maintained that weight loss or lost even more, or are approaching the 10 percent weight loss threshold, will be reimbursed another $100 – for a potential total reimbursement of $200.

To be reimbursed for the Jenny Craig or L.A. Weight Loss programs, participants can use the form provided during registration. Reimbursement for the Weight Watchers program requires downloading a form from Blue Cross of Idaho, http://www.bcidaho.com .

Individuals begin by joining the weight-loss program of their choice. The program director will provide the necessary form and instruction on submittal. Participants then must access the Blue Cross of Idaho Web site, log on as a member and go to the wellness link and complete the registration as directed.

For questions about the new incentive program, call the Office of Group Insurance at (800) 531-0597 or (208) 332-1860.
