ITD employees find new ways to commute

Leaving their individual cars parked at home, 64 ITD employees walked, biked, rode a bus, joined a car pool, or caught one of the valley’s Communteride vans to work during the annual May in Motion alternative transportation promotion held last month in the Treasure Valley.

Ada County Highway District Commuteride and Valley Regional Transit organize the annual event with support from public and private sector entities concerned about decreasing traffic congestion and improving air quality. This is the third year that ITD employees have participated, racking up a total of 945 days worth of commute alternatives during May.

Fourteen ITD employees won prizes for their participation this year:

  • Dennis Glynn
  • Doug Chase
  • Forrest Anderson
  • Janie Stillwell
  • Jason Williamson
  • John Collins
  • Kathy Chase
  • Pat Marler
  • Raelene Viste
  • Rosalie Cramer
  • Sandy Browning
  • Steve Mample
  • Teri Blackburn
  • Wayne Herbel

A recognition ceremony and barbecue for participants in the regional May in Motion event is planned for June 22 at the Boise Train Depot. Results of the annual competition involving public organizations and private employers will be announced at the ceremony.
