EAL to be paid out June 30;
holiday requires prompt timesheet submittal

As a result of a directive from the Division of Financial Management (DFM), all employees who carry a balance of earned administrative leave (EAL) will be paid for that leave on the June 30 paycheck. The balance payout affects nearly 270 ITD employees, according to Human Resources. Employees will receive written notification in the next few days.

DFM also directed agencies to pay off all compensatory time balances; however, since payouts for the previous six months were made in February, ITD will not be paying off comp time balances. ITD clears the balances of comp time earned in the preceding six-month period twice a year. February’s payout covered comp time earned between July and December 2005. The next payout for “previous six months comp time” will be in December.

As a result of Senate Bill 1363a, ITD employees who are considered “executive” under the Fair Labor Standards Act will no longer be eligible to receive compensatory time, effective June 18. Employees who are affected by this change will receive a letter from Human Resources in the next few days.

Because of the July 4 holiday, employees need to complete, verify and submit their timesheets for the current period promptly on June 30. Please double check the hours entered each day for both Week 1 and Week 2.

Approvers need to make sure timesheets are accurate and approved on Monday, July 3. Timesheets should not be approved until employees have finalized and verified their hours. Once timesheets are approved, no corrections can be made before payroll is sent on July 5.
