The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) is in the process of redesigning the Galena Overlook, located just north of Galena Summit on Idaho 75, with plans to completely reconstruct the scenic overlook. The project is a partnership involving the Idaho Transportation Department, Sawtooth Society and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The U.S. Forest Service, Sawtooth Society and friends and family of Bethine Church will be present for the July 30th dedication ceremony. Renaming and dedicating the future, reconstructed overlook is a way of recognizing and honoring Bethine and Frank Church for past and present efforts to support the establishment of the SNRA as well as Bethine’s continuing interest in the SNRA and her work with the Sawtooth Society. The dedication ceremony will include brief presentations by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Sawtooth National Forest, the Idaho Transportation Department, Sawtooth Society, Region 10 office of the USDA Forest Service and Bethine Church. A bronze plaque and conceptual drawings of the proposed site redesign and overlook interpretive panels will be unveiled. Following is more detailed information on the ceremony: Date and time: Sunday, July 30th from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Program:
