Simmons to become acting administrator
for Division of Aeronautics

Susan Simmons, Administrator of the Division of Administration, will assume administrative responsibilities for the Division of Aeronautics while a search is under way to replace Bob Martin who retired earlier this month.

ITD's Acting Director Dwight Bower announced the selection of Simmons Tuesday.

She joined ITD in April 1997 as controller and was promoted to head of the Division of Administrative Services (now Administration) in 2001. Before coming to ITD she worked 13 years in the Division of Financial Management where she was involved in statewide financial and budget issues.

A certified public account, Simmons was a board member of the Public Employees Retirement System for nine years, leaving the board in 2004.

She will assume her expanded duties on Saturday (Dec. 16) and adjust her schedule to handle both positions while maintaining her office at Headquarters. Dave Tolman will assist Simmons during the transition.

"We will begin the search for a permanent administrator soon. In the meantime, it is my hope that you will all give Sue your support in handling the additional responsibilities," Bower said.
