The transportation department will share its use of technology with legislators and guests at the Idaho Capitol as part of Digital Government Day on Feb. 14. ITD’s display will include a demonstration of the new Automated Drivers License Testing System, on-line ordering of specialized license plates and a continuous PowerPoint presentation on how the department uses technology to better serve Idaho citizens. Displays will be set up on the fourth floor of the Capitol Rotunda and will be staffed from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It provides ITD and other participating state departments and agencies an opportunity to show how technology enables more efficient service delivery. The Information Technology Resource Management Council (ITRMC) first presented Digital Government Day in 2002, and the event has been well received by attendees the past five years. The event is a showcase of Idaho ‘Best Practices’ booths, which was a highlight of ITRMC's annual Digital Government Boot Camp for Idaho Policy Makers in 2000 and 2001. These informative and practical demonstrations provide an exceptional opportunity for the Legislature's interaction with state and local government agencies. Demonstrations also provide a convenient venue for agencies to share their progress in the deployment of digital government within the state. - - - - -
