Board, administration honor 51 employees

Although employment longevity typically is measured in years, for many in the transportation department it also is measured in contributions to Idaho travelers and improvements to the system they depend on.

More than 50 ITD employees, including a dozen who concluded their service through retirement in the last six months of 2006, will be honored for their contributions Wednesday at a semi-annual service awards ceremony. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Headquarters auditorium as part of the transportation board’s monthly meeting.

Those who will receive an award are asked to arrive at 9:45 a.m. because seating is limited. The service awards ceremony also attracts a standing-room only crowd. All employees are encouraged to attend and support their co-workers, says event organizer Michelle Rowland of Human Resource Services.

Among the honorees are three employees who mark 30 years of service: Kathy Chase, Supply Services; Greg Christensen, Information Services; and Teresa Rhodes, Vehicle Services. Six others will celebrate 25 years of service, and seven have reached the 20-year plateau.

ITD’s class of 2006 retirees (July through December) represents a collective 290 years of experience (an average tenure of 24.3). Among those with the longest service are Linda Sturm (37 years), Candice Smith and Mary Mangum (36 years), Charles Rountree (32 years) and Michael Alb (31 years).

Refreshments will be available in the Headquarters lobby immediately after the awards ceremony.

The Idaho Transportation Board and ITD’s Executive Team offer their congratulations to all 51 employees who reached employment milestones or retired.
