Note: The following letter by Karen Kastning was delivered to the ITD District 1 office in Coeur d’Alene. It was accompanied by two “delicious” cakes as an expression of thanks for ensuring access during a summer construction project.

Motorist provides sweet reward with thank you letter

District 1 employees,
This summer there was an incredible amount of roadwork being done by crews all over the city. I live on Hayden Avenue, so the Prairie, Atlas, Huetter and Ramsey intersections were on my way to nearly everywhere.

I thought that you did a very nice job keeping the roads open. I’m sure that it would be easier to work if the area was completely closed off to traffic. Thank you for working so had to build great roads and keep everyone moving in the right direction.
