Board begins state tour with monthly meeting set for District 2

The Idaho Transportation Board begins a series of district tours next week with a visit to District 2, April 18-19, where they will review projects and hold their monthly business meeting.

On Wednesday, the board will view and be briefed on a number of projects including the top of Lewiston Hill to Genesee, Genesee to Thorncreek Road and learn more about durable pavement markings planned for U.S. 95. Afterward they will travel to Moscow to look at the city's efforts to coordinate traffic signals. They will continue north to check out a rest area project..

During lunch in Moscow, the board will hear presentations from the Moscow Transportation Commission, the City of Moscow and the National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology Center.

The board will hold its monthly business meeting at the District 2 office in Lewiston on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Driver Services Manager Ed Pemble will provide an update on the federal REAL ID Act, relating to driver’s licenses.

Brent Jennings, highway operations and safety engineer, will recommend actions regarding management of debris on state highways based on discussions with the district engineers.
The recently released FY08 merit pay policy memorandum also will be on the agenda.

Human Resources Manager Mary Harker will summarize the legislative requirements of the department’s FY08 appropriation bill relating to personnel cost increases for salaries, the subsequent pay plan, the impact on employees and compa-ratio, and the amount of budget expended.
