District 5 makes bid to repeat as fitness champs

District 5 employees flex their muscles and proudly display their traveling trophy, won in the 2006 I-Fitness exercise challenge. District 5 leads all districts with four wins in this annual ITD fitness event. The award is based on the percent of total employees that reach the exercise challenge goal.

At Headquarters there is an eight-year winning streak held by the Bridge, Right-of-Way, Office of Highway Operations and Safety and Public Transportation team. Last year both the Administration team and Driver Services & POE team threatened to end the streak but missed by a small margin.

New this year is a buddy program where two employees can team up for support to finish the challenge and earn extra rewards. One of the buddies needs to an employee who has never participated in the annual spring exercise event or one who has not finished the challenge during the past two years.

You also can participate in the ITD vs. FHWA competition where the team with the highest exercise average wins bragging rights. The challenge began Sunday (April 15) and continues through June 23.
