Note: Then following is printed at the suggestion of Cheryl Rost, manager of ITD’s Safety and Risk Management Office. Youths have become very creative – and daring – in their continual search for inexpensive and easily obtainable chemicals to produce highs. Increasingly they turn to inhalants instead of illicit drugs from local dealers. Parents who want help in recognizing and combating the rise in inhalant abuse can go to a Web site jointly developed by the New England Inhalant Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Massachusetts Northeast Regional Center for Healthy Communities. The online training helps parents and other interested adults learn about the dangers of inhalant abuse, how to talk with children about it and ways to get more information and help. Information is available at: www.InhalantAbuseTraining.org
