Public Affairs assumes new, more descriptive
title: Office of Communications

ITD's Office of Public Affairs has been renamed to better reflect its diverse mission, Director Pam Lowe announced last week.

The new title is Office of Communications.

"The role of the Office of Public Affairs has changed and expanded over the years with the added responsibilities of public involvement and the Web," Lowe said. "Office of Communications is a more descriptive title of the functions it provides to the department, to the media and to the public."

The office provides a variety of services to assist the department in fulfilling its mission. They include:

  • developing communication strategies that inform the public of the department's mission, goals, accomplishments and programs
  • coordinating the department’s relations with state, regional and national news media, with 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-per-week response
  • producing internal and external documents
  • managing the department’s public involvement and public hearing process statewide
  • providing internal communication
  • providing video and photography services
  • managing department's Web presence
  • responding to the needs of the state and department leadership
  • responding to inquiries from the public
  • providing technical writing and print publication services for the department

The Communications Office is located in Headquarters, Room 211, and can be reached at 334-8005.
