May – a time to put alternative
transportation into motion

Fill a seat; share the view; make a friend… and help save the environment.

May in Motion, a program that promotes alternative transportation in the Treasure Valley, kicks off with a street fair Monday on Eighth Street between Bannock and Idaho in downtown Boise. The alternative transportation fair will include booths where information about commuting alternatives will be available, registrations for carpools or vanpools, free refreshments and a live radio remote broadcast.

The Ada County Highway District’s Commuteride program and Valley Regional Transit organize the annual month-long emphasis on alternative transportation. The intent is to help reduce the number of cars on the roads in Southwest Idaho and to “protect the lifestyle that makes the Treasure Valley a great place to live, work and run a business.”

In addition to the Monday kickoff event, May in Motion also includes a bike or walk to work celebration on May 18. An event is planned from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Eighth Street. Commuters are encouraged to learn about transportation alternatives by visiting booths and talking to vendors. Prizes and refreshments will be provided.

For more information about ITD commuting options in the Treasure Valley, contact Janelle Catlin at ext. 8036.
