Variety of activities planned as part
of annual Employee Appreciation Week

ITD employees touch the lives of Idahoans every day in every part of the state, from maintaining and improving highways to processing driver’s licenses and vehicle records, inspecting and licensing commercial vehicles, managing and improving airports, and assisting with the development of public transportation.

Multi-modal and multi-faceted.

At the heart of all of those services are people – employees committed to making a difference.

ITD employees, and those in other state departments, will be recognized for their contributions as part of state Employee Appreciation Week that begins Monday (May 7).

All week
Drawings will be held throughout the week for approximately 30 gift cards and certificates to area businesses. Administrative assistants have been given a numbered ticket for each employee. Winning numbers will be announced daily via e-mail.

Entries submitted for the inaugural photography contest will be displayed in the Headquarters lobby. Winners in each of the three categories – animals and pets, nature, and black-and-white – will receive gift cards.

Boondocks, a family entertainment center located near the I-84/Meridian exit, offers admission to ITD employees at a discounted price of $13.95 per person, from May 7 through May 13. Admission covers three-hours of activities ranging from Go-Karts and Slick Track to Rookie Go-Karts, miniature golf, bumper boats, laser tag and Kiddie Cove. The admission price includes 10 arcade tokens per guest. Employees are asked to show their badge at the admission counter to receive the discount.

Employee Appreciation Week activities at Headquarters are supported, in part, through a contribution from DOROLCO.

Tuesday
A fitness walk and ice cream social will take place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday. Employees can choose a designated 15-minute or 30-minute path to walk or may chart their own course. Maps of the two prescribed walks will be available in the courtyard on the south side of Headquarters building.

A small completion gift will be given to those who finish the course. Employees participating in the Centennial Trail fitness challenge can double their time spent on the walk when filling out their activity log.

Members of ITD’s executive team will reward all Headquarters employees with ice cream sandwiches in the courtyard during the two-hour period.

Wednesday
ITD’s individual sections will plan activities to honor employees on Wednesday. Michelle Rowland (ext. 8570) can provide ideas or suggestions.

Thursday
In a form of Extreme Makeover - Office Edition, employees are encouraged to decorate their cubicle or office area. Judging will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with a prize basket to be awarded to the section or office with the best theme.

Irene Snijders of the Home and Garden TV network’s “Design on a Dime” will share ideas on how to transform your home from “tired to terrific.” The presentation is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Headquarters auditorium. Snijders will offer practical suggestions on how to redesign/decorate any room of the house in one day. For information about the One Day Redesigns seminars, visit: www.OneDayRedesignsInc.com .

Michelle Limbomg from Lowe’s Home Improvement Center in Meridian will give a demonstration on container gardening in the courtyard Thursday afternoon. The free session will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday
Employees who want to get an early start on summer may wear their most colorful Hawaiian shirt on Friday. A jar filled with pasta will be displayed in the lobby, enticing employees to guess the number.
