Web pages highlight ITD's revenue challenges

Explosive population growth in the state, increasing transportation demands, soaring construction costs and shrinking revenue projections are critical challenges facing ITD now and in the coming years.

Learn more about these challenges and possible solutions by visiting the new Moving Idaho link on the home page of the ITD Web site.

“Moving Idaho: Addressing Idaho’s Highway Revenue Shortfall” provides a three-minute video and a narrated slide presentation (with video) about the state’s transportation system and ITD’s revenue challenges. The site, developed by the Office of Communications, also contains information about how Idaho funds its transportation system, as well as how population growth, aging roads and bridges and inflation impact the system.

Site visitors can learn about what might happen if transportation funding is not increased. Visitors also can review a revenue proposal prepared by the Idaho Transportation Board for consideration by the governor and the 2007 Idaho Legislature.

Idaho’s transportation revenue challenges likely will be high on next year’s state legislative agenda.

Since April, ITD administrators have presented the revenue information to nearly 2,000 people around the state. More presentations are planned for the next five to six months.
