Update: Active wildland fire behavior continues in Montana. The 13 Montana fires have burned a total of 185,804 acres. Fire potential remains high due to the predicted thunderstorms for the next few days.

Weather Discussion: Thunderstorms are predicted across Idaho and Montana today and Saturday. Wetter thunderstorms are expected south of Idaho and Montana. Winds will increase from the Cascades through Idaho and Montana and along the Sierra Mountains through Nevada.

Bridge (Clearwater National Forest): 9,700 acres at zero percent contained. This fire is 45 miles southwest of Missoula. Fire behavior was active with backing fire, torching, and spotting. Area closures remain in effect.

Murphy Complex (Twin Falls District, Bureau of Land Management): The complex was contained at 653,100 acres.

Middle Fork Complex (Boise National Forest): 12,926 acres at 50 percent contained. This complex of five fires is 18 miles northeast of Lowman. Moderate fire behavior was reported. Structures remain threatened and roads are closed.

Poe Cabin (Craig Mountain Area Office, Idaho Department of Lands): 55,000 acres at 70 percent contained. This fire is 23 miles southwest of Grangeville. Fire runs, torching, and creeping were reported. Residents can call the Idaho County Sheriff's office at 208-983-1100 with any questions regarding evacuation.

Cascade Complex (Boise National Forest): 42,154 acres at nine percent contained. This complex of four fires is 16 miles northeast of Cascade. Torching and spotting were reported. Two communities remain threatened.

Van Horn (Salmon-Challis National Forest): 1,650 acres at 85 percent contained. This fire is 15 miles north of Challis. Smoldering and creeping were reported.

NEW Horton (Payette National Forest): 200 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is 15 miles north of McCall. Torching and spotting were reported. Evacuations are currently in progress.

East Zone Complex (Payette National Forest): 36,526 acres at 20 percent contained. This complex is made up of three fires. This fire is 25 miles northeast of McCall and is burning in timber and grass. Fire behavior included fire runs, torching, and spotting. Two communities, historic sites, and bridges remain threatened.

Raines (Payette National Forest): 23,215 acres at an unknown percent contained. This fire was previously reported under the East Zone Complex. It is 38 miles northeast of McCall and is burning in timber. Active fire behavior continued. Structures are threatened.

Chimney Complex (Craig Mountain Area Office, Idaho Department of Lands): 51,000 acres at 87 percent contained. This fires is 19 miles south of Lewiston and is burning in tall grass, brush and timber. Smoldering And torching fire behavior was reported on the complex.

Rattlesnake (Nez Perce National Forest): 26,100 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is 25 miles south of Elk City and is burning in timber. Active fire behavior was observed. Two communities are threatened.

NEW Shower Batch (Salmon-Challis National Forest): 180 acres. This WFU is 18 miles northwest of Challis. Torching, creeping, and smoldering fire behavior was reported.
