ITD to join in law enforcement, public safety
career fair Sept. 8

The Idaho Transportation Department is stepping up efforts to attract qualified, motivated professions to fill the positions it has available.

In an effort to attract applicants, representatives of ITD’s Human Resource Services will join other public departments and agencies at the sixth annual Law Enforcement Career Fair and Public Safety Day Sept. 8 in Boise.

Michelle George of the Human Resources staff is coordinating the department’s participation in the event.

More than 20 agencies and 750 individuals participated in the event held at the Idaho State Police headquarters in Meridian last year. The 2007 event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Boise Police/Ada County Safety Building, 7200 Barrister St., near the Boise Town Square mall.

Three representatives from ITD’s Human Resource Services office will staff ITD’s booth. District 3 also will display heavy equipment near the booth, possibly a Derek Digger and and other ITD equipment..People interested in careers at ITD can receive job applications and visit with department staff at the booth.

Larry Gebert, who is widely known for remote broadcasts that promote community events while delivering weather forecasts for KTVB-TV, will introduce the job fair during the Sept. 7 morning news. He will broadcast live from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Most of the agencies participating in the Saturday career fair are expected to be on hand for Friday’s live newscast.

Mary Hunter of ITD’s Office of Highway Operations and Safety will join two representatives from District 3 at the public safety building to promote the career fair, George said.

“This will be an exciting opportunity for us to explain to the public the many career opportunities we have at ITD. It is a great way for people to learn about the department and the services we provide.”
