Thanks for help with ‘emphasis patrol’

Director Pam Lowe,

I wanted to pass this information on to you so you could see what your folks helped us with this last week. Supervisors Sorenson, Blacketer and Richardson were instrumental in making this patrol a success. They allowed your Roving Units to assist ISP in setting-up satellite Ports of Entry on approved sites. This allowed us to inspect a larger number of commercial vehicles and afforded us safe areas to do so. POE Officers also assisted us at Huetter POE and Bonners Ferry POE. As normal, it was a pleasure working with all ITD Staff involved.

I have attached a copy of the Emphasis Patrol Statistics for this operation. As I mentioned when we spoke at the East Boise POE, this operation involved Idaho State Police, Idaho Transportation Department, Montana MCS, Washington State Patrol, Spokane County, Wash., Spokane City, Wash., Liberty Lake, Wash., Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Forrest Service and Transport Canada.
Allied Washington and Montana agencies turned in statistics as well as Idaho State Police and the R-2 Roving POE.

As you can see, all agencies numbers were very respectable and no doubt enhanced traffic safety by removing dangerous drivers and vehicles from our highways.

Thanks again,

Brian Kitchen
Idaho State Police
