People who attended the recent Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot found a veritable gold mine of information at a clapboard-style booth jointly staffed by the employees of ITD’s districts 5 and 6. Thirty-two employees, including District 5 Engineer Ed Bala, covered six-hour shifts in the booth, working from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The eight-day fair ran Sept. 1-8. In addition to greeting visitors and explaining the services ITD provides, representatives distributed a wealth of printed information:
Uncountable miscellaneous items, such as 511 cards, vehicle registration documents and drivers manuals, said District 6 Communications Specialist Bruce King. The booth featured a presentation on bridge safety that proved to be very popular. Twenty visitors to the booth completed a question/answer form that staff members from the districts will address. Volunteers in the booth included: District 6: Ron Lindsay, Randy Edie, Dennis Ahlstrom, Ed Osteraas, Bill Shaw, Bruce King, Randy Drake, Nancy Luthy, Eric Verner, Tim Cramer, Mike Akers, Wade Allen, Karen Hiatt, Tyson Price, Troy Williams and Derk Williams. District 5: Gayla Freeman, Ed Bala, John Voss, Steve Gertonson, Connie Darrington, Dennis Mendenhall, Michael Landon, Wayne Curtis, Pat Grayson, Dan Harelson, Jeff Davies, Brian Poole, Corey Krantz, Ramon Gutierrez, Ryen Johnson and Blake Rindlisbacher.
