A record number of ITD employees took major steps – literally and figuratively – toward better health this year by participating in the department’s annual fitness challenge. Nearly every team stepped up with higher employee participation, according to a summary of the 2007 Idaho Centennial Trail challenge. The concluding report indicates 675 employees, representing every district and every division completed the 10-week challenge. They logged at least 30 exercise hours (a minimum average of three hours per week) during the event. Progress was marked throughout the program by imaginary stops along the centennial trail. Several of the teams participating this year would have won past exercise challenges, but winning district and Headquarters teams raised the bar by setting new record-high percentages for the number of their employees who participated and reached their exercise goal. The team composed of employees from Bridge, Right-of-Way, Highway Safety and Public Transportation recorded a 75 percent participation level – the best among Headquarters teams. Dennis Glynn led the way by recording 217.3 hours of exercise. Other participation levels included: Headquarters:

In a friendly head-to-head competition, ITD narrowly edged the Federal Highway Administration in the average hours completed. ITD’s 212 team members from Headquarters completed a total of 12,033.3 hours of exercise, an average of 56.8 hours while FHWA averaged 56.6 hours for 14 team members (total of 792 hours). Glynn of the Bridge section at Headquarters led all participants with his 217.3 hours, followed by:
