Bottom line

Spreading Thanksgiving hope
Ten Boise-area families had a brighter Thanksgiving because of the generosity of the Materials Section at Headquarters.

For the second consecutive year, employees organized a collection to purchase Thanksgiving dinners for families that have children at nearby Lowell Elementary School. Contributions of $350 this year enabled the purchase of 10 complete meals with 12-pound turkeys as the centerpiece. The menu also included mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls, butter, apple juice, pumpkin pie and whipping cream.

Last year the effort generated enough funds to purchase meals for seven families.

“Your department’s generous donation of 10 turkey dinners provided a Thanksgiving feast for over 35 of our Lowell children and their families,” wrote school counselor Linda Hammond. “You gave the gift of hope to these families along with a delicious meal.” (See letter)
