Research Program looking for proposals

ITD’s Research Program is soliciting proposals for research, development, and/or technology transfer projects. Proposals can address any subject area where research or related activities will benefit the department. Proposals that address the department's strategic goals and/or key department initiatives will be given preference. Appropriate activities could include:

  • Research – Applied research that addresses problems facing the department or its partner agencies. Research that synthesizes available information about practices in other states.
  • Development – Projects aimed at developing new software, technologies and/or practices that were identified through research.
  • Technology Transfer – Development and delivery of training to encourage implementation of research findings.

Ideas for projects should be submitted on a Project Request Form. Requests to participate in pooled fund projects also should be submitted using that form. A list of pooled fund projects for which states are currently seeking partners is available from the Research Program office. A sample of a completed project form also is available.

Each proposal must have a sponsor. Projects may be sponsored by any department manager at the section level or above. Project sponsors are responsible for ensuring that proposals are complete and that projects address important agency needs.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 10, and can be submitted by mail to:

Ned Parrish
Research Program Manager
Idaho Department of Transportation
P.O. Box 7129
Boise, ID 83707-1129

Proposals also can be submitted by fax at (208) 334-4432 or by e-mail to ned.parrish@itd.idaho.gov . Please note that electronic copies of the proposals are preferred to paper copies.

Following the deadline, proposals will be reviewed by The Research Advisory Council composed of managers from throughout the department. Proposals will be selected through an open, competitive process.

Questions may be directed to ITD Research Program Manager Ned Parrish at 334-8296 or ned.parrish@itd.idaho.gov
