Elected officials, media to tour I-84 corridor

An informational bus tour will showcase several construction projects planned on Interstate 84 in Nampa and Meridian as part of the state’s GARVEE Program.

The tour will be Tuesday from 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Lawmakers, local elected officials and media representatives will participate in the tour. Senate Transportation Committee Chairman John McGee of Caldwell will lead a delegation of the committee.

Lead engineers from ITD will present information and answer questions about the projects. The tour will give participants an opportunity to learn about:

  • I-84, Garrity to Meridian widening and reconstruction
  • I-84, Nampa Franklin Boulevard Interchange bridge widening and reconstruction
  • Planned I-84 Interchange at Ten Mile Road
  • GARVEE projects around the state

The projects are funded by the GARVEE Program which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to design and construct needed improvements throughout the state in less time than through traditional funding methods. The bond program is based on future federal funding.

For more information about the program, visit itd.idaho.gov and click on GARVEE Transportation Program. For information about the projects, click on Southwest Idaho, then I-84, Caldwell to Meridian Corridor.
