ITD considered for transportation-related awards ITD might have to designate a room – or perhaps build some new trophy cases – if its success in bringing home transportation-related awards continues. A recent report to the executive outlined a plethora of nominations and pending awards from regional and national competition. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) recently announced that ITD will receive two PACE awards in Region IV video competition. An in-house video prepared by Dave Tuttle and Mark Hall of the Communications Office focuses on winter driving safety. It features professional hockey player Lance Galbraith of the Idaho Steelheads who says his hard-hitting, aggressive style should remain on the ice and not carry over to highways. ITD also will receive an award for an externally produced motorcycle safety video that shows a vehicle being T-boned by a motorcycle because the car driver didn’t look carefully enough before pulling away form a stop sign. The department is being considered for three AAMVA Region IV awards for Outstanding Environmental Leadership for its recycling partnership with EnviroGuard, for commuter incentives and for Operation Wildflower. ITD has been nominated for five awards in AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) national competition. They include:
Other award nominations for which ITD is being considered include:
Several members of the department’s Communications staff will walk down the red carpet to pick up awards from the Idaho Press Club this week. Although it remains a secret which awards the staff will receive, the Press Club provided advance notice to ensure their attendance. Winners include: Jeff Stratten, Mel Coulter, Mollie McCarty, Steve Grant and Adam Rush. Details will be available following the Saturday (May 3) awards banquet in Boise. Published 4-25-8 |
