Employees urged to consider alternative commutes ITD employees in the Treasure Valley have an opportunity to conserve finances as well as energy by participating in the annual May in Motion campaign. Organized by the Ada County Highway District, Commuteride and Valley Regional Transit, the event encourages commuters to try alternative transportation as a way of reducing traffic congestion and natural resources while improving air quality. At a time when gas prices have reached record levels, alternative transportation also can save commuters substantial money. ITD is a strong advocate of using alternative transportation and encourages employees to consider participating in May in Motion activities. This year’s campaign begins with an April 28 informational event at Headquarters. ACHD representatives will staff a table from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the break room. They will answer questions about vanpools, carpools and public transportation options and will have promotional items to give away. They also will distribute free bus passes for use in May. “The more participation we have, the greater are our chances of obtaining free incentives and subsidies,” explains Judy Davis of Human Resource Services. “This May will be an opportunity to take advantage of free alternative transportation and to lessen our individual footprints on the planet.” Published 4-18-8 |
