Highway safety law enforcement mobilizations save lives, and also catch criminals and help reduce overall crime, according to ITD statistics.

The campaign also led to 93 felony arrests, 172 drug arrests, the capture of 122 fugitives and recovery of two stolen vehicles.

The effort produced a number of additional citations during the seven-day period, March 12 – 19.

  • 271 adult seat belt citations
  • 18 youth seat belt citations
  • 17 child safety seat citations
  • 1,335 adult speeding citations
  • 11 youth speeding citations
  • 31 reckless driving citations

Officers cited 520 uninsured drivers and another 266 motorists for driving with suspended licenses.

Statewide, 31 law enforcement agencies and 416 officers participated in the overtime patrols funded through ITD.

A seat belt enforcement mobilization continues through June 2. More mobilizations are planned for the coming months targeting impaired driving, July 2-7 and Aug. 20-Sept. 3, and aggressive driving, July 18-27.
