First Lady forms team for fitness celebration Idaho’s First Lady, Lori Otter recently announced the formation of a special team that will compete in the St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Celebration. The annual event, which takes place on Sept. 20 this year, includes a 5-kilometer run and a walk-and-stroll for all ages and all abilities for women and children. “I would like to extend an invitation to any state employees who would like to participate in this event with me and join our team,” she said. “The St. Luke’s Women’s Fitness Challenge is a great way to get outdoors for a day and is also for a good cause,” she said. “Giving back to one’s community is an important value in my life. St. Luke’s cares deeply about the community and improving the lives of women and children.” Proceeds from the annual event are use, in part, to provide birth and parenting classes, car seat safety instruction and support groups offered through St. Luke’s Women’s and Children’s Community Education program. All of the beneficiary funding goes directly to community organizations. Ms. Otter’s team will participate with the Girl Scout’s team. The deadline for joining her team is 5 p.m., July 25. Anyone who would like more information about the event can go to www.celebrateall.org . Once there, people can register by going to “guest access” and sign up in the “regular team registration.” On the “participant information” page select “First Lady’s Team” and the “purple (non-competitive walk/run) event wave.
