ITD Director to serve as chairperson
for 2008 State Employee Charitable Giving campaign

ITD Director Pam Lowe will welcome leaders from other state departments Wednesday to formally launch the 2008 Idaho State Employees' Charitable Giving Campaign that benefits non-profit organizations throughout Idaho.

Lowe, who will serve as chairperson of this year’s United We Care – State Employees' Charitable Giving Campaign, will encourage her peers to support the drive and work internally with their respective state employees to generate contributions.

The statewide campaign works closely with United Way to distribute funds to community agencies and organizations throughout Idaho. The single-distribution system keeps costs associated with the campaign to a minimum to maximize contributions.

Representatives from more than a half-dozen state agencies are expected to attend Wednesday’s formal launch.

“Yes, we face some economic challenges this year in Idaho. Because of those economic challenges, the need has never been greater… but the opportunity for helping others has never been greater either,” Lowe said.

She will challenge state leaders and their employees to rally in support of the annual campaign and work on creative strategies within their organization to generate funds.

In the past, ITD employees in the Treasure Valley have assembled a variety of theme baskets filled with prized items that are given away by raffle. Employees prepared 24 baskets with themes ranging from Italian Night, Garden View, Toys are Us to a Taste of Idaho, Bountiful Harvest, an Evening at Home and Holiday Entertainment.

ITD raised more than $3,000 last year.

Lowe will introduce representatives from the World  Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho First Lady Lori Otter and representatives from a number of agencies:

Tammie Jauregui is the contact for the ITD employee campaign. Activities for the 2008 campaign will be forthcoming.
