The bottom line

Weight a minute… help is on the way
ITD employees looking for help with weight management are encouraged to consider joining Weight Watchers. Volunteers plan to form a new group at ITD Headquarters, meeting monthly during the lunch hour.

Interested individuals should contact Holly McClure at ext. 8484 or e-mail her at holly.mcclure@itd.idaho.gov.

Participants could qualify for up to $200 in incentive dollars through the Office of Group Insurance, in cooperation with Blue Cross of Idaho. They offer a weight management incentive program for state employees. For information about how to qualify, go to the incentive Division of Administration Web site: http://adm.idaho.gov/insurance/Wellness/Weight_Mgt_Continuous_Enroll.pdf

Mammography services offered Nov. 7, Dec. 9

On-site mammography services for cancer detection are planned for Nov. 7 and Dec. 9 at Headquarters.

Employees can get their annual check-up by taking advantage of the quick and convenient digital mammography service.

Road rage and Road Warriors to take field Saturday
ITD has two chances of winning the first Fall State Employee Softball Tournament Saturday (Sept. 27) at the Willow Lane Athletic Complex. ITD fielded two teams for the tournament, which begins at 9 a.m.

The tournament should run through about 3 p.m., explains Michelle Rowland who helped organize ITD’s participation.  She encourages colleagues and friends to drop by the complex at 4623 Willow Lane, off of State Street, to cheer on ITD’s teams – The Road Warriors (blue shirts) and Road Rage (red shirts). The teams are composed of players from Headquarters and District 3.

Food and drinks will be available to purchase from the concession stand at the complex. For more details, contact Rowland at ext. 8570.

Dropping in for coffee
Pilot Wayne Thiel recently wrote about his trips this summer into several of Idaho’s small airports. He praised the condition of the state-owned Cavanaugh Bay airstrip in northern Idaho.

“Allen Lieske, the airport caretaker, was his usual awesome host,” Thiel reported in the Idaho Aviation Association newsletter The Flyline. “(Lieske) had the camping area and the airport in great condition. He made everyone feel welcome by keeping coffee made, starting at 5:30 a.m. every morning.

“Tom Boyer from Treasure Valley Coffee Company and Linda and I donated nine pounds of coffee to help the cause…”

Thiel also reminded fellow pilots that Cavanaugh Bay airstrip was scheduled to close this month (September) for rebuilding the runway turf. “It sounds like it may be closed into the spring, so you will want to check with the Idaho Division of Aeronautics next summer before planning a trip there," he wrote.
