Kyte to step aside as director of NIATT

Dr. Michael Kyte, director of the National Institute for Advancement of Transportation Technology, at the University of Idaho, recently announced plans to leave the position next year.

“After serving in this position for 15 years, it is my intention to resign as NIATT director on June 30, 2009.  I have been considering this change for over a year, and now is the right time. I am very eager to return full time to the Civil Engineering Department so that I can spend more time teaching, working on my research projects, doing outreach and completing book projects.

“Serving as NIATT director has been an honor for me, and I am grateful for the opportunities that I have had. I am looking forward to working with (University of Idaho) Vice President for Research Jack McIver to facilitate the hiring of a permanent replacement.

“Thank you for all that you have given to NIATT’s programs.  It has been a real pleasure working with you and I look forward to continuing to do so in the future, just with a different hat.”

NIATT's mission is to develop engineering solutions (knowledge and technology) to transportation problems for the state of Idaho, the Pacific Northwest and the United States, and to prepare students to be leaders in the design, deployment and operation of the nation’s complex transportation systems.
